Understanding the Roots of Food and Body Struggles

Breaking the Cycle: Understanding the Roots of Food and Body Struggles

Food and body image are deeply personal—and often complicated—topics. Whether you’re a parent concerned about your child’s eating patterns or an adult exploring your own difficult relationship with food, this workshop offers a compassionate, educational space for growth, reflection, and support.

Led by a mental health professional, this psychoeducational workshop is designed for adults who:

  • Are supporting a child or teen struggling with eating disorders, disordered eating, or body image concerns
  • Are personally experiencing a challenging or unhealthy relationship with food or their body
  • Or both

Participants will learn to:

  • Understand the psychological, emotional, and social roots of eating struggles
  • Recognize how generational patterns and family dynamics impact food and body beliefs
  • Explore the connection between control, emotions, and eating behaviors
  • Identify unhelpful narratives around food, weight, and worth
  • Develop healthier internal and external communication around food and body image
  • Practice self-compassion while fostering supportive, non-shaming environments for others

This is not a therapy group, but a safe, nonjudgmental learning space that provides insight, guidance, and practical tools. Whether you’re navigating this path for yourself, your child, or both, you’ll leave feeling more informed, empowered, and less alone.

Who Should Attend:

Adults who are struggling with their own relationship with food/body image and/or supporting a child or teen facing these challenges. No diagnosis required.
